This seminar is designed to explore the various types and uses of film through hands-on cinematic exercises. Students will integrate 21st Century technology skills into the creative process in order to learn how to effectively use digital media for communication. Students will experience the film making process from pre-production to post-production and will gain knowledge of the professional language of film making. Students will explore sophisticated film and lighting techniques, editing, and the potential career opportunities in the film/video industry. In this seminar, students will enhance their visual literacy and writing skills while creating original products like public service announcements, documentaries, and stop motion films.
The major content of this course includes:
- Exploring the various types of media
- Understanding the history of film
- Selecting a topic and developing ideas
- Creating a storyboard
- Writing a script
- Producing and directing a film
- Utilizing various camera shots
- Editing with a purpose
- Looking at films with a critical eye.
Film Assignment-10/5/15- You must film five-5 sec video of either complimentary or opposite images so we can import footage next week. Remember to either email the video clips to me firstname.lastname@example.org or you can email them to your email address or bring them in on a flash key.
